Dr Stella Mearns presents – Reducing Bias in AI Generated Tech

Dr Stella Mearns was invited to speak at Sound Ventures: Investing in the future of music tech, the Creative Catalyst Peer Network Event that took place at The Ministry, London on October 8th.
Stella presented an overview of the Innovate AI in the Music Industry project that DAACI are currently working on: “Creating a transparent and responsible User Interface to reduce bias in AI-generated technology.”
The project aims to reduce bias and promote diversity in DAACI’s music tech by expanding and developing the DAACI Natural Drums plugin. With academic partner University of the Arts, London, the team are working with a stylistically diverse pool of musicians who are contributing directly to the project. DAACI is also working with industry partner Lewis Silkin LLP who are providing legal guidance throughout.
This is to ensure that the research sits alongside any existing or emerging legal regulations in the realm of ethical AI music software development.
